Many different images come to mind as you read the first Psalm. The winds and storms of life may have wrestled with and twisted this old tree but because it was “firmly planted” by the Source of life-giving water it still provides beauty and shelter. Contrasted to this are the burned-out “chaff” which the wind is driving away on the other side.
