"Self Portrait" (or "Me Painting Chloe Painting Me Painting Me") (24" x 30")

My father-in-law told me a while back, "Michael, every artist needs to paint a self-portrait. You really should do the same!" So, many years later I did! However, after looking other artists self portraits and seeing how creative they were (for example: Norman Rockwell looking out from behind his canvas to see a reflection of himself), I decided to paint me (or at least my arm and hand) painting my dog Chloe who was painting a picture of me as I was painting a self portrait of me with Big Red the chicken! All this taking place in our kitchen eating nook looking out the window into our back yard with the chicken coop in the distance!

In the painting are many different items each of which has a special significance for my family and I. For example: The tiny plaque hanging on the narrow red wall between the sliding glass door and the tall oak bookshelf cabinet is the original drawing I did for our wedding invitations 44 years ago!

I hope you enjoy this whimsical "self" portrait as much as I did painting it!  Acrylic on canvas - 24"x 30".
